Parish Organizations

Altar Society
The purpose of the Altar Society is to clean the church weekly, and to decorate for the Christmas and Easter seasons. More volunteers are always welcome and needed. There are daytime and evening teams. Contact the rectory 314-631-0691.

Education Commission
The Education Commission is responsible for the religious formation programs for all Saint Andrew parishioners. We believe that this formation is life long and try to develop programs for every parishioner from womb to tomb. We are committed to providing opportunities for the members of our faith community to grow in their spirituality and knowledge of the Catholic faith, both as individuals and as families. Contact Matt Lucas 314-631-5713.

Fifty Plus Club
A group of senior members who meet on the third Wednesday of each month at 12 noon in the cafeteria. The purpose of this group is to have activities and social contact within the parish. Contact Mrs. Toni Abele, 314-846-7846.

Focolare Movement
This is a lay Catholic Movement called the Work of Mary whose spirituality we try to practice in the parish. There are many ways we come together such as youth groups for every age of our children, Word of Life groups which reflect on a particular Scripture passage each month. For more information concerning this, contact Mary Boedeker, 314-602-0679 or one of the other rectory staff.

Funeral Candle Honor Guard
As a sign of comfort and consolation to the family of our deceased members, a group of parishioners, serving as an honor guard, leads the procession down the aisle at the beginning of the funeral liturgy and also leads the procession out of Church at the end of the services. This group also functions as representatives of the parish family for our deceased parishioners. If you wish to be a part of this ministry, please contact the coordinators for this: Miss Jacqueline Kemper or Miss Judith Kemper, 314-631-2556.

Legion of Mary
This is a program of spiritual development for adult members, shown by honoring Mary, praying the rosary, making contact with new parishioners, updating the parish census, and many other good works. The Legion has a traveling statue of the Blessed Virgin. Parishioners may arrange to have it in their homes, especially when there is a sick member, for a week at a time. Contact Mr. Ron Gruska, 314-631-3157.

Parish Council
This group of parishioners meets quarterly to discuss the parish commissions’ work in the area of education, worship, service and social programs and advise our administrator in determining ways our faith community can carry out our mission statement. Contact Mr. Michael Starnes, 314-845-9119.

Parish Finance Committee
This is a group of people who use their business and accounting expertise to review the finances of the parish and make recommendations to our administrator regarding budgetary considerations.

Pro-Life Committee
The goal of the group is to work for an end to abortion and to foster respect for all human life. The group focuses on prayer, the education of parishioners on life issues and concerns, and participates in the Birthright Program, an agency that supports women in crisis pregnancies. Contact Mrs. Terri Schneider, 314-631-8592.

St. Andrew Fish Fry
Fish Fry events are held on Ash Wednesday and each Friday in Lent from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. To volunteer to help with this important fundraiser, please contact the rectory, 314-631-0691.

St. Andrew Quilters
This dedicated group of quilters was organized in 1967 and continues to meet each Thursday at the home of parishioner, Mary Budde. Proceeds from their monthly raffle benefits the needs of the parish. They are always looking for new faces and are willing to teach those who want to learn how to quilt. Contact Mrs. Mary Budde, 314-631-3447.

St. Vincent de Paul Society
Members of the parish provide vital assistance to those who request help and live within the parish boundaries. Throughout the year they sponsor the Food Drives and the Christmas Giving Tree. Appeals are also made during the year to help those in need. Contact the Rectory, 314-631-0691 for information about membership, or if you or someone you know might be in need.

Together We’re Better Scrip Program
Through this program, parishioners are able to contribute a percentage of their purchases from certain stores. Store certificates are purchased from St. Andrew and are spent as cash. The program forwards the stores’ donations to St. Andrew Church. Contact the rectory 314-631-0691
